Tom’s Day Out is a story about Tom, a boy born after the end of the world. He develops a liking for cars and learns about them through his uncle as they journey through the post-apocalyptic landscape.
Rearrange The World —A bottle, a can, and a cup move about on a table. With each arrangement, the objects take on different meanings. They tumble, balance, overturn and roll around one another. If we can’t change the world, let’s rearrange it.
The World (Postcards) — When I think about the end of the world I often think of a bright light. In our last moments we recount all the things that make up the world as we know it that will now be gone. A pencil, a butterfly, a hammer, a ring, a seed, a hat, a wheel, a leaf, a bird, a button, an airplane, a car, a shoe. All of the things we touched, used, saw, bought, loved, threw away. Every single one of them in front of our eyes for one last time.
The Dogs — The first time I saw the dogs, they barked and chased after me. I cycled away as fast as I could. Then I realised I had never felt fear like this before. I kept going back to see them. The more I did, the more I understood them.
